Our Denver Vacation

Well, we headed to Denver last Thursday afternoon. Chris wanted to attend the continuing education classes at SLA. We stayed downtown and rented a car. On Friday, after Chris got registered, we went to Vail for the day. It was really fun. There wasn't a lot going on in town except for construction and the Teva Mountain Games, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Here is Ali and I in Vail. On Saturday Chris had his CE, so Ali and I were on our own. Of course, we went shopping. We met Dada for lunch. Ali got LOTS of compliments on her dewrag headband. Isn't it cute??!!
On Sunday after Chris had another CE we headed to the Colorado Rockies baseball game and lucky us....they were playing Dada's favorite teams the Cincinnati Reds. Unfortunately the Rockies won, but it was a great game. Ali did great and even got a free hat out of it.
On Monday after more conference time, we went up to Estes Park, which is nestled just outside of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Once there we called Melissa (a friend of Kitty's from St. Vincent) who works at Lane Guest Ranch during her summers (http://www.laneguestranch.com/) We got to visit with Melissa, have lunch, see the ranch and its cast of characters as well as finishing off our visit with a great hike to a summit of 9003 ft. You can see the great view below. Thanks Melissa for sharing your afternoon with us, it was a great time!
All in all it was a great combination of work and leisure. Ali did a great job and it was nice to be able to travel with her. With this successful venture we will be sure to do more traveling in the future.

Baptism

Alison was baptized on Saturday night after the 5:30pm Mass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. It was a very special occasion for her. Chris sister Becky and her husband Mark are her godparents. My parents stood in for them during the actual ceremony. Here are a few pics.....this is Deacon Mark who performed the baptism.
Here we are, waiting to be immersed. We will have to say, Alison did not like the immersion at all. The water was pretty cool. She screamed!!!!! Poor girl. My brother said from his viewpoint all he could see were legs flying and water splashing everywhere. Ha!
Here is a family pic. My parents, Chris' parents, my Grandma, and my brother with his wife and three girls all came to share with us. Thank you very much! We love you.
On a side note...I know you can't see it very well, but I would like to acknowledge that my Grandma made Alison's baptism dress. She looked absolutely adorable. The flowers on the dress are actually the flowers that my grandma used while making flower girl dresses for our wedding. Thank you Grandma!!

Whew, what a weekend

Hello all. Well, we had a fantastic Mother's Day weekend. We headed to Wabash on Friday and had pizza with Chris' Aunt Sheila, Uncle Rodney, and cousin Ryan from N. Dakota. They were unfortunately in town for Rodney's mother's funeral. It was nice to visit with them. Saturday was visiting time with the grandparents and cousins. We had another cookout which was yummy. We came back to Indy on Sat. evening.
I got to sleep in on Mother's Day which was great. Here is a picture of me getting up and Ali going down for a catnap. Chris made me breakfast and he got Ali's 3-month photos framed for me. I just hadn't gotten around to getting it done, so it was soo nice to get them. We hung them in the front room and they look just precious.
I then headed to work but had a nice surprise when I got there....they didn't need me and had forgotten to call, so back home I headed.

Since I didn't have to work we sat down and started Ali on rice cereal. Here are the pictures to prove it. She did pretty good overall. We also gave her her sippy cup to start "drinking" from. The look on her face when she actually got water out of it was just priceless. All in all, she did pretty good and I think she enjoyed it.

Polka-Dotted Princess

We wanted to show off one of our summer dresses....how cute is she :) Unfortunately we were on our way to a funeral to get all gussied up.

Alison's favorite part of wearing a dress was pulling up the hem and putting it into her mouth...thank heavens we had matching bloomers on!!!

A fun new toy

My Mommy put my exersaucer together. I just love it!! I need just a little bit more torso strength to support myself. I'm good for about 15 min. then I'm beat.
